Picture this; a beautiful cloudless summer day, you’re up on a mountain that’s also right by a sandy beach. Doesn’t that sound like a dream? Well, Jacqueline & Troy made it real, and also tied to knot while they were at it! A wedding at furry creek; slightly north from Vancouver B.C. is an expanse of a golf course and country club. If you’ve never heard of it before, let me tell you it should be on your list for venues.
These two had an amazing LONG day filled with so many smiles, laughs, and the occasional strangle (see sunset photos for proof LOL). Follow me through this blog highlighting their day!
After an early wake up, a McDonald’s stop, and almost 3 hour drive up to the venue (there was a bike race on the sea to sky highway creating only single lane traffic!), we arrived and started off with a few getting ready images. Jacqueline was set up in the lower dressing rooms having her hair and makeup done by an AMAZING hair and beauty team.
While the bride was doing her thing we took all the goodies for details shots and headed to another room to plan and create the perfect flat lays! I will admit, most of the work there was done by an amazing videographer team (linked in vendors). It was our first time working together and it felt like instant friendship!
Thank you to my second shooter at the time for standing on a chair to hang these beautifully badass dresses! Once no one fell off anything (we were mostly safe I promise) we returned all items and met with the boys upstairs. Except Stella, she is our gorgeous dog of the day joining the groomsmen!
The gentlemen were a breeze to work with and helped wrangle Stella when she got the zoomies, running off into the halls! We had a bit of back and forth with this one, giving our bride a little more time to get ready before heading back down for that signature zipping of the dress shot. With final touches out of the way we had a first look with Jacqueline’s bridesmaids then it was off to the official first look!
A wedding at Furry Creek is nothing without the beach! This is the part that I WILL NEVER FORGET! We were given golf carts, which you know is always a good time, to head down to the water where Troy would see his bride for the first time, and Stella would run into the water with no regrets!
Jacqueline and Troy had the smart idea of planning their portraits BEFORE their ceremony! They knew right after they were married family and friends would swarm, then they’d be whisked off to the reception. Might as well get portraits done first before you’re all sweaty!
When I came for my vendor tour a few months before the big day, I couldn’t wait to come back for this next specific area. The lookout rock is one of the most picture perfect places I’ve ever seen. See for yourself!
Back at the main venue, halfway up the winding hill to even more lookouts, was the ceremony spot! A lush, green patch overlooking a small rocky decline, which was of course fenced off. The surrounding trees completed the whole space, making the intimate area look so vast!
Stella had the MOST important job of the day, CARRYING THE RINGS!!! She was the goodest girl.
Family photos came right after their super sweet ceremony! We somehow finished the groups so fast that we realized there was EXTRA TIME! Guys, this NEVER happens at a wedding. Extra time isn’t a thing, it’s either right when the clock hits or 5 minutes past. So, we took our chance. Sneaking off on a golf cart and whisking the couple away for sunset!
Can you believe that this is at a golf course?!? Crazy right. Not only does Furry Creek have this magnificent lookout but also a few large bridges we were able to run around on before the sun disappeared!
The sun was down, the drinks were out, and the party was on! Guests patiently waited for the couple to return for speeches, dinner, then to let loose and dance!
With everyone fed, full, and maybe a little tipsy, our couple had their first dance together! Parents were of course right after, then it was open floor.
A wedding at Furry Creek with Jacqueline and Troy. Man, it was a long day but I wouldn’t have wanted it any different! These two were the life of the party, cracking jokes all day and making sure everyone was having a good time. I’m so honoured I was able to be there for it and document it in the best way possible. Here’s to both of you and your next journey together!
